American College Theatre Festival (ACTF) Information
The Kennedy Center American College Theater (KCACTF) is a national theater program involving 18,000 students from colleges and universities nationwide. The KCACTF has served as a catalyst for improving the quality of college theater in the United States.
The KCACTF Regional Festivals is a gathering of people to see one another's work and
to share ideas. In addition to performances, there are a wide range of activities
that in the past have included workshops and seminars on such topics as playwriting,
auditioning, voice, movement, stage combat, theater for children, scene painting,
scenery construction. During January and February, a total of eight regional festivals
are held throughout the country.
Region I of the KCACTF involves institutions from Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, and Eastern New York. Each year the KCACTF Region I Festival brings students and faculty together at the end of January to see some of the area's strongest productions, and to participate in workshops concerning a variety of areas in theatrical performance, design and production, and to celebrate theater in general.
