'Green’ on the Green: Riverhead Toyota Donates New Prius as Hole-in-One Prize for Suffolk Golf Classic

Time is running out, but donations and sponsorship commitments are on the rise as the ɫý Golf Classic inches closer to tee-off time.

Riverhead Toyota has generously donated a hole-in-one prize of a new Toyota Prius along with a luncheon sponsorship for the Suffolk Community College Foundation 32nd Annual Golf Classic on August 24 it was announced today.

A golfer can drive away in a brand new Toyota Prius courtesy of Riverhead Toyota (a 2 year lease) if they can score a hole-in-one during the golf classic on the 4th hole of the Hamlet Golf and Country Club in Commack. “Riverhead Toyota has been and continues to be a generous supporter of ɫý and our foundation,” said ɫý President Dr. Shaun L. McKay.

Toyota USA has a wonderful relationship with ɫý according to President McKay. The Toyota T-TEN, Toyota’s Technician and Education Network program is a world-renowned technical training program partnership with Toyota that is a critical component of ɫý’s Automotive Technology Program. T-TEN, offers world-class technical training, with hands on classroom and lab training, complemented by on-the-job experience in a Toyota or Lexus dealer service center. Toyota USA has donated more than a dozen Toyota/Lexus automobiles and pick-up trucks to the college for students to garner hands-on training and experience.

The proceeds from the Golf Classic will support need and merit-based scholarships, emergency student loans and quality academic enrichment programs for Suffolk County Community College students. Last year, more than 500 students were helped by $650,000 in aid from the Suffolk Community College Foundation.

Former Suffolk County Police Commissioner, Deputy County Executive and Community College Executive Dean John C. Gallagher will be honored by the Suffolk Community College Foundation at the Classic. Tickets and golf slots are still available.

The Classic will take place on Monday, August 24, 2015 at the Hamlet Golf and Country Club in Commack.  Registration includes 18 holes of golf, access to the driving range and putting green, golf cart, lunch, a cocktail reception and a celebratory reception and dinner featuring raffle drawings, auction and awards ceremony.

Registration is $275 per golfer and $1,100 for a foursome.
