President McKay Appointed to AACC Commission on Diversity, Inclusion and Equity
The Board of Directors of the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) has
Bumphus, in his letter appointing President McKay, wrote, 鈥淲e are sure that your insights and leadership will significantly contribute to the Board鈥檚 decision-making process and its ability to serve the interests of all AACC member institutions.鈥
鈥淚t is a distinct honor to be appointed to the AACC Commission on Diversity, Inclusion and Equity,鈥 said President McKay, 鈥渁nd I look forward to being a strong and vocal advocate on behalf of our students and College as well as the more than 13 million students who attend community colleges across the country.鈥
Among the major programs and issues the AACC Commission on Diversity, Inclusion and Equity are involved in include providing leadership development, job shadowing, preparing students for STEM careers and closing the achievement gap for students of color and low income students.
The Commission also works with other organizations and councils committed to equality, including the American Association for Women in Community Colleges, National Council on Black American Affairs and the National Community College Hispanic Council.
The AACC is the primary advocacy organization for the nation鈥檚 community colleges
and represents nearly 1,200 two-year, associate degree鈥揼ranting institutions.
