Joan Bolanos Martinez – Michael J. Grant Campus

Nyack College - Business Administration
Both on and off campus, Joan took every opportunity to get involved, which also helped to develop his leadership skills. While at ÃØÉ«´«Ã½, he was a Peer Mentor and an EOP tutor.

What advice would you give to future NYSPS applicants?
"Get involved, and take the opportunities that the college offers. Be responsible and proactive."

 
Christina Fives

Christina Fives – Ammerman Campus

Medaille College - English with a minor in Creative Writing
Christina has a passion for writing and literature. With the encouragement of her American Literature, Creative Writing, and Theater professors, Christina is working hard to pursue her dream.

How has winning a NYS Presidential Scholarship affected you?
"It has given me the ability to follow my dreams at an amazing school."

 
Alexa Pedersen

Alexa Pedersen – Ammerman Campus

Utica College - Fraud and Financial Crime Investigations with a minor in Spanish
While at ÃØÉ«´«Ã½, Alexa completed an internship with the Suffolk County Police Department, which clarified that she was on the right path to her future career. She was able to experience various departments within her career field.

What advice would you give to future NYSPS applicants?
"Take every opportunity ÃØÉ«´«Ã½ gives you, whether it is a scholarship option, or joining a club. Get involved, and be a part of the community."

 
Michael Pesce

Michael Pesce – Eastern Campus

Iona College - Computer Science
Michael has always been interested in computers and feels that they are essential to the future, which is why he chose his major. While at Suffolk County Community College, Michael played on the intramural basketball team.

What advice would you give to future NYSPS applicants?
"Even if the chances seem small, strive for the best you can be."
